John B. Butt
In Memoriam: John B. Butt
(1935 - 2007)

Donald Albert Dahlstrom, PhD ’49, died in June 2004 in Utah after a long and distinguished career in the fields of mining, metallurgy, chemical engineering and teaching. Don was president of AIChE in 1964 and also served as the founding chairman of the Environmental Division in 1970-71. This division quickly grew to become AIChE’s largest. After retiring from Envirotech, he joined the University of Utah’s Department of Chemical and Fuels Engineering as a faculty member.  

Milton Staackmann, BS ’55, is now working for the University of Hawaii at the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, where he is involved in research on hydrogen and fuel cells.  

Umesh Hattikudur, PhD ’74, joined Rohm and Haas Ion Exchange as Water Process Steward in November 2004.

Patrick Joye, MS ’84, left Aventis Pharma in 2003 and joined the Flavor and Fragrance business of Firmenick (Geneva, Switzerland) as Director of Engineering Sciences.  

Jessica (Lutkenhaus) Winter, BS ’97, completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in July 2004. Jessica is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School working with Dr. Joe Rizzo on the retinal implant project. In July 2006, she will begin an appointment as an Assistant Professor at Ohio State University.

Katie H. Brandt, BS ’03, is now working at the Energy/Environmental Research Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
