Information for Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate Advising

The Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science assigns a faculty advisor to each incoming freshman; this advisor may or may not be a faculty member of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Changing of an academic advisor can be easily handled by contacting in person Professor Randy Snurr (467-2977), the Director of the Undergraduate Program. Additionally, Prof. Snurr can assist with any unusual academic circumstances which may arise.

Students in the sophomore through senior years are assigned advisors who have their major appointments in the department. Typically, the advisor remains as such to the students from the sophomore through senior years. Beyond assisting with course selections, the advisor can be helpful in determining career choices (temporary or permanent employment, graduate studies, etc.).
