2004 Charles M. A. Stine Award & 2004 Wiley Award Recipient

John Torkelson has been selected as the winner of the 2004 Charles M. A. Stine Award. This is the major annual award from the Materials Engineering and Science Division of the AIChE, and recognizes "outstanding contribution to the scientific, technological, educational or service areas of materials engineering and science." Later this year, John will receive a plaque and an honorarium, and will speak at a plenary session at the Annual AIChE Meeting. Who is Charles M. A. Stine?

2004 Wiley Award

The paper by C.J. Ellison and J.M. Torkelson "Sensing the glass transition in thin and ultrathin polymer films via fluorescence probes and labels" has been named the winner of the Wiley Journal of Polymer Science (Part B) prize for 2004. The award, which honors the best paper published in the journal during the previous two years, will be presented by the Editors in March 2004 at the meeting of the American Physical Society.
