Owen Coon Laser Chemistry Laboratory The Owen Coon Laser Chemistry Laboratory offers unique research opportunities in laser chemistry. Its 6,000 square feet of clean area permit the setup of complex systems to characterize such phenomena as surface-enhanced Raman scattering from adsorbates on single-crystal surfaces under ultrahigh vacuum, state-selective infrared laser-induced chemical reactions, ultrafast electron transfer kinetic studies with tunable femtosecond lasers, and temperature jump kinetic studies of hydrogen bond breaking.
